“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good”
This verse that is the title of our writing is found in the book of Romans chapter 12 verse 21. It is found at the end of a chapter that tells the Christian how to behave when evil and sinful accusations or provocations from the devil comes against us. We are, without a doubt, living in the perilous times that the Apostle Paul wrote about in 2nd Timothy Chapter 3. During this time, a true believer in Jesus Christ will be faced with many provocations of evil that will try to hinder us and question how to handle these situations. I am going to list some verses that I meditate on when these provocations come to me as a Daddy, husband, family member, friend, neighbor, and Pastor. I hope these verses from the scripture encourages and gives you strength to stand strong in the Lord when faced with whatever situation this sinful world throws against you.
But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. (Matthew 5:44)
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:31-32)
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galations 6:7)
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. (James 1:20)
Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. (Proverbs 10:12)
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grevious words stir up anger.
(Proverbs 15:1)
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
(Proverbs 15:3)
I hope with these few verses, and there are plenty more in the scriptures, helps you today and the days that follow. God Bless until next time.
