Marks of the True Christian (Part 3)

Romans 12:11  “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

Romans 12:12  Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Romans 12:13  Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.”

Honesty is a characteristic that is lacking considerably in our society today. The Bible says in, 2 Corinthians 8:21,  “Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.” True Christians are to have this honest heart so that we can take care of Church business, which by the way is a great responsibility that many do want to be a part of but criticize if it is not done to their liking.

Fervent means to be excited or to have a great passion to do the work that the Lord would have us to do. If we are excited about our calling from the Lord, we will be able to rejoice, to be patient in the issues of life and issues that will arise in the Church, and also to continue to be steadfast in our prayer life.

2 Corinthians 9:7,  “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” When we give or do something to help a Brother or Sister when they are in need, we are to do it without expecting anything in return or to gain anything from it. The Lord knows the intents of our heart and he will bless us in his own way and time.

May God Bless once again until the next writing. Bro. Shayne
