“Who does sin affect” (Part 3)
Joshua 7:13 “ Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.”
Sin had been committed by one person in the Camp of Israel and the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies. The Lord brought the word to Joshua that He would not be with the people anymore except they take away the accursed thing from among them. Joshua brought the people together and went through each tribe, families, household, and then it came to Achan. His sin did find him out and this was the cost. He was lost his family, all his possessions and even his own life. Covetenous cost him everything. The Bible says in Luke 12:15, “And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.”
One man’s disobedience affected himself, his family, and the camp of Israel. But the obedience to God by Joshua and the people to get this sin out of the way brought back victory and encouragement to the children of Israel against their enemies. So in conclusion, one person’s sin can effect the lives of others but if we are obedient and faithful to the Lord, he will bless and strengthen us so that we may keep sin out of our camp. A verse to end this writing with, 1 Timothy 5:20, “Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.”
May God continue to Bless You and he will if we keep sin out of the Camp. Bro. Shayne
