“Be Steadfast”

1 Corinthians 15:58

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

I received my annual newsletter from Free Will Baptist Family Ministries in the mail and as I read an article by Bro. Jim McComas {Executive Director of Free will Baptist Family Ministries}, this verse stood out to me. (1 Cor. 15:58)

There is no doubt in my mind that we are living in perilous times that the Apostle Paul wrote about in 2 Timothy Chapter 3. “1. This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3. Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4. Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7. Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

The Lord didn’t put this in the scripture to discourage us but to warn and to tell the Christian that these things are what we will face in our “Labour for the Lord.” Whatever ministry or work that we are doing in Jesus name, the enemy, Satan, will do everything in his power to disrupt the progress and moving forward in each work because he knows that our “Labour is not in Vain.” (Souls will be saved, Youth will be taught the right way, the sick and afflicted will be visited, the Christian will still support what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord, the House of God will not be forsaken, the Truth will be preached and supported)

The scripture says in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

So Preacher keep preaching, Deacon keep watching, Choir keep singing, Sunday School teacher keep teaching, lay member keep coming, Brothers and Sisters keep loving. All of us that are saved just keep being faithful. (Be steadfast) Those that can’t physically do the Labour that you once did here is your verse and may it Bless You and all those that love the Lord and are just doing what we can in his name,

Hebrews 6:10 “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”

God Bless you for taking time to read this and I hope it has been a help to you. Brother Shayne Monday, Pastor Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church
