“Hearing” Part 1
“But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it”. Luke 11:28
Many times as Christians we may wonder why is it so important to attend Church Services and set under the teaching and preaching of God’s Word. The answer is simple; so that we may be blessed by the Lord. We should ask ourselves, what do we consider the blessings of God are. The Lord knows we need material things to survive and raise our families. We find this knowledge in Matthew 2 verses 25 - 34 (very good study by the way), which I will summarize by the latter part of verse 32, …"for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” 1 Timothy 6:8 says, “And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.”
Here are some Spiritual blessings that are promised from the the Word of God when we follow the instructions of Luke 11:28.
Faith : Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” { I need my faith to be increased in these perilous times that we are living in}
Patience : Luke 8:15, “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.” { I need more patience to perform the tasks that are set before me involving my Christian life}
Joy : Jeremiah 15:16, “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.” { There is a song that the Mt. Carmel Singers would sing that is very special to me called, “Oh what a Joy it is to serve Jesus, I was dead and he gave me life.”, Praise his Holy name.
