“Hearing” (Part 2)
“Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.” Ecclesiastes 5:1
As Christian people, the time allotted for Services is very important. We should come ready by having already prayed for the Lord’s will to be done in the singing, testimonies, fellowship, and on Sunday Mornings, the teaching. But most important, we should have prayed what the Apostle Paul writes in 2 Thessalonians 3:1, “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have a free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:”
We never know who will be at the service with a broken heart or with the weight of sin upon them. Many times we may come to service with just the mentality, (I am including myself in this thought), I am here. Why? The Lord knows what we are in need of before we ask so it is extremely important that in each service we come ready to hear what he has to say through the Word of God and the Holy Spirit which bears witness.
Let me add this point. When the Lord speaks to our heart, we need to act upon it. The scripture says in James chapter 1 and verse 22, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. We are not just to hear the word of God but do it. It may be one of your family members, a neighbor, classmate or a coworker that you have invited and they have came to church because of you. One of my daily prayers is Lord lead me in the path of Righteousness for your namesake. This is outside the four walls of the church building but also inside of it. You may be the key to someone’s heart at that particular time. May the Lord continually bless and keep you until the next time.
My next writings will be about something I taught in Sunday School a few years back. God Bless You, Bro. Shayne
