Who is a Wise Man?

James 3:13

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

If you read the last post, which by the way has been several weeks back, I intended to post a lesson I did in Sunday School a few years back but as I was reading this morning this thought came to us so I will be brief with its content.

Who is a wise man? The answer is obvious in the second part of verse 13 of James chapter 3. (Read above) Also, we find that a wise man is one that hears and does what the Bible says. Matthew 7 verse 24 says, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.” That rock is Christ. {(1Corinthians 10:4)  And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.}

As always, I could continue on but to answer the question stated, a wise man is a borned again believer in Jesus Christ. As you read and study this you will find the fear of the Lord, strength, peace, understanding, applying our hearts, knowledge, happiness, soundness, rejoicing, strength, and many other characteristics (fruits) of a Christian. As a Christian, we need to grow in wisdom that descendeth from above. Remember, the Bible says in James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
